Service

In addition to my own research and teaching, I have also been an active colleague in service to my department. The kinds of activities I have been involved in demonstrate the collegial relationship I have built both with my peers in the graduate student cohort and with my faculty advisors. I served as a graduate representative on the Women’s Studies Programming and Events committee (2012-13) and on a search committee to hire two African American Literature faculty (2013-14). Both positions were nominated by graduate students and approved by faculty. Outside of my own department, I was invited to be an honorary member of a master’s thesis committee for Curriculum Studies as an advisor on food studies, an experience in graduate advising few newly minted PhDs can claim.
